General Meeting

Welcome & Presidents ReportMeeting called to order at 7:44 p.m. 

Reports:
            Treasurer’s report:  Dick was absent but a copy of the Treasurer’s report was tabled.  In general terms, the amount of money the club has available is about the same amount as last year at this time being $1683.30 in the General Fund and $1426.23 in the Loppet Fund as of 22/09/2009.

            V.P report.  Vance was absent due to illness.  Vance had sign up sheets prepared for upcoming courses, which Mike posted on the back wall. Courses will run if enough interest is shown.  For further information on any of these courses please contact Vance. A Tour Leader 1 course is offered this season.  Courses planned are Map & Compass, Avalanche Beacon, Avalanche Safety Training 1 which will take place over a full weekend, date TBA, snowcaving and how to bake a fruitcake at Vance’s house on Nov.14 for $10.

            Newsletter Editor:  Brian needs new trip reports and pictures. Good job on October, 2009 issue.  Email any info/reports/pics to Brian prior to last week of month.

            Social:   Sign up sheet for volunteers to bring snacks for each meeting was distributed.  List to include phone nos. and e-mail addresses.  Sunday October 18 announced as trail clearing day at Riverbend.  Participants are to meet at 9 a.m. at canoe launch area of Riverbend and bring tools such as saws, loppers (pruners), grass whips, lawn mowers.  Don has mapped out where trees have to be cleared after falling across the trails.  Volunteers are needed to make chili for lunch following the work party.

            Day Trip Chairman:  Linda announced ski lessons will begin in January.  Our ad in the  city’s mid December activity guide cost $40.  Our first day tour will take place on Remembrance Day to Heritage Ranch.  Another day trip has been scheduled for Dec. 5 on a Saturday to Elk Pass in Kananaskis.  Anyone interested in leading a day trip, please contact Linda.

Mountain Tour Chairman:  Steve is in Spain.

Publicity:  Advertising for this meeting took place.  Richard asked for stuff to put into the club’s history books, particularly pictures. 

Old Business

  1. Policies and Procedures Manual:  The manual outlines the duties of each member of the executive.  Revisions were accepted by the executive and general membership. 

 

New Business

  1. Agreement with Riverbend:  Still working on it.   Volunteers will be looking after track setting with no involvement from the club.
  2. Pine Tar & Parrafin Party:  Scheduled for November 22 at Pam’s  and Don’s home.
  3. Purchase of new tracker avalanche beacons:  Steve Irwin negotiated price for new trackers from Valhalla at $260 tax included.  Pat Gleason moved Greg Olson moved that the club purchase an additional 9 trackers.  Carried.

Anyone else who wants to purchase their own personal tracker, get your $260 to Steve Irwin who will be ordering the trackers shortly.
