GENERAL MEETING
March 8, 2005

MINUTES

Pat Gleason called the meeting to order at 7:40.

1. REPORTS

President:
Pat Gleason apologized for not bringing a proper agenda (computer difficulties) and congratulated Don Wales for receiving the Sportsman of the Year Award. He promised a short meeting in order to have more time to enjoy Don’s slide presentation on his trips to the Arctic.

Treasurer:
On behalf of Jenni Duke, Claude Sam read the Treasurer’s Report dated February 28, 2005. Total club assets amounted to $7,251.24 broken down as follows: General - $798.07; Loppet - $1,694.98; Tour Leader - $175.84; Investment Certificates - $2,000.00; Junior Jackrabbits - $2,378.45; Senior Jackrabbits - $146.14; Biathlon - $57.76.

Social Directors:
Carol Lindner and Brian Davies thanked tonight’s snack contributors, adding that they were pleased with the response this year. The next social event will be the Annual General Meeting/Potluck Dinner to be held the second Tuesday of April at the Pioneer Lodge. Carol and Brian will have the phone committee contact every club member to find out who will attend and what type of menu item they should bring.

Day Tours/Lessons:
Pam Ralston was absent. Carol & Brian reported that their February 21 tour went very well. However, the last day tour had been cancelled due to warm weather.

Newsletter:
Don Wales set April 1st as the deadline for his last newsletter. Don congratulated Pat on his promptness in providing his President’s Report.

Publicity: Absent

Mountain Tours:
Claude Sam reported that two trips had been cancelled because too few people had registered on time. Claude stressed the need to receive payment fifteen days before the trip in order to make the bookings. The upcoming weekend trip is cancelled as well because of poor snow conditions.

2. NEW BUSINESS

Available Executive Positions:
Several positions are open for next year: President, Vice-President, Newsletter Editor, Mountain Tours Chair, Publicity, Secretary, and possibly Treasurer. Pat invited anyone interested in filling one of these positions to contact the executive.


The meeting adjourned at 8:00.

Entertainment:
After the break, Don Wales gave a very informative and amusing slide show of his exciting kayaking adventures in the Arctic during the past 10 years.
