General Meeting
Welcome & Presidents Report: Mike Spencer

Past President’s Report: Nothing at this time.
V.P report. Vance - Crevasse Self Rescue training went well, 7 people attended one evening & 6 on another evening.
Treasurer’s report: Dick posted info on the wall for anyone interested in seeing what was happening financially with the club. Presented financial statement for period from March 1/08 to Feb. 28/09. Financial statement has to be sent to the Society Act. We have 109 members. 76 Jr. Jack Rabbits, 25 Sr. Red Deer Nordic members. Discussed cost for Kerry Wood Nature Centre room rental is $165.00/night a bit expensive. Pat approved treasurer’s report, 2nd by Pam, all in favor.
Newsletter Editor: Brian Davies – only change is all newsletters that are printed will now be in black & white only as the cost for color & the extra time is too costly & anyone wishing to view newsletter in color can check out our website. Have a few address errors but haven’t been able to get a hold of the members. Trip reports have been coming in good.
Publicity: Richard – nothing at this time.
Social Committee: Sandy thanked Debbie & Marilyn for bringing snacks. AGM is booked for Tuesday April 14/09 from 6pm to 9pm. Potluck list of who brings what is as follows: A-D bring salad, E-0 bring Dessert & P-Z will bring the main dish. Note that we all bring our own utensils, plates & glasses etc.
Day Trip Chairman: Linda absent
Web Master: Dick –nothing at this time.
Mountain Tour Chairman: Steve: All trips have gone well this year. Next 3 trips are full. Funds for all trips received.
Old Business
· Still looking for someone to take over the Loppet. See Don Wales.
· 16 have received 1st Aid training.
· Nominations for the exec for next year. Any member can be nominated for any position. Secretary & Social Director are at the end of their 2 year term.
· New sports shop in Red Deer “Wipe Out Ski & Bike” (Tim & Kim) have offered to try & arrange for Chic Scott to speak at one of our general meetings next season.
New Business
· Exec has approved that we will no longer charge young persons (18 and under) for the float fund or for beacon rentals on club tours. The accommodation charges will remain the same.
· Exec has reconfirmed that the tour leader will be responsible for deciding who is suitable to go on any given tour.
· The executive would like to make a show of thanks to Mark & Ruby Meunier for all their volunteer efforts over the years to cross country skiing with special recognition of the tremendous job that has been done keeping the local ski trails groomed in Red Deer. In that interest we have decided to make Mark and Ruby lifetime members.
