Don called the meeting to order at 7:45
1. REPORTS:
President:
Don welcomed all members and briefly introduced the purpose of the club and a few of the clubs activities for new members.
Treasurer:
Claude presented his Treasurer’s report and reported that we have approximately $1000.00 in our general fund.
Vice President:
Mike outlined upcoming courses and drew member’s attention to the sign up sheet on the back wall. He reported that the second avalanche transceiver course has been postponed due to weather to January 16th.
Social Committee:
Carol thanked those members that brought goodies for tonight’s meeting and asked memberss to sign up to make cookies for the Loppet on February 3/07 (600 cookies needed!). A sign up sheet was circulated.
Newsletter:
Terry encouraged members to submit pictures in JPEG form and articles by e-mail or on disk.
Mountain Tour Chair:
Trips scheduled for Chester Lake, Kananaskis , Kilmorey Lodge, Stanley Mitchell Hut and the Sask. Toe were highlighted. Many trips are now running waiting lists.
Webmaster:
No report.
Day Tour/Lessons:
John put in a plug for the Family Trip running March 2-4th and encouraged members to call Jenni should they have any questions or want to sign up.
A day trip has been planned for March 4 on Piper Creek trails – see newsletter for details.
Ski lessons started last night – they are very popular with approximately 17 participants. Don requested help from Mike and Claude.
BUSINESS:
1. Red Deer Loppet:
The Loppet is a go for February 3rd, 2007. Successful negotiations were held with River Bend re: cost. Members are needed to help in various capacities and were encouraged to sign up on the sheet circulated or contact Don.
2. Work Party – Thursday Jan 25
To help prepare River Bend trails for the Loppit, members were asked to attend a work party on Jan. 25 (6:30 – 10:00 pm) at River Bend. Please meet at the parking lot.
3. Phone Committee
Don requested members volunteer for a phone committee to assist with finding volunteers for the Loppet. Interested members were asked to see him at the end of the meeting.
4. Next meeting:
Next general meeting will be held February 13, 2007.
Meeting Adjourned – After a brief social break, members were treated to a presentation by Don and Barb on dried food preparation. Food suggestions for day and overnight ski trips were provided along with Marilyn’s awesome recipes for granola bars and muffins.
