General Meeting

Welcome & Presidents Report:  Mike Spencer
Trails are good.  Don has membership forms if anyone needs one.

Don discussed the Bob Johnston Loppett & why we participate.  Sign up sheet will be sent around during meeting for anyone interested in helping out. Need members for phone committee.   Anyone bringing chili can keep the receipt for supplies & will be reimbursed. We require volunteers for baking cookies, registration, timing, results etc.We could also use some volunteers to distribute posters.  If you would like further info or to help out contact Don Wales.

Reports:
            Treasurer’s report:  Dick (absent) tabled to next meeting.

            V.P report.  Vance (absent) Mike discussed Map & Compass training or GPS – you can still sign up if interested.  Crevasse Self Rescue trng. Feb. – can still sign up if interested.

            Newsletter Editor:  Brian Davies – has a couple of trip reports. Deadline for entries is January 26/09.

            Social Committee:  Sandy thanked Pam & Corrine for bringing snacks.  Thanked everyone who is bringing the chili &/or cookies for the loppett.

            Day Trip Chairman:  Linda is working on a schedule if anyone is interested in leading a day trip please contact Linda.  Mike will be leading a day trip to Jarvis Bay on Jan. 31/09. Contact Mike for to sign up.  Great attendance for ski lessons.

            Web Master:  Dick – Absent

Mountain Tour Chairman:  Steve: Absent – Elk Lakes-full, Nigel Pass – contact George or Margo for info.  Blueberry Hill – contact Marilyn.  1 space left on Sask Toe – contact Brian. Bell Cabin-full. Fondue @ Steve & Sandy’s Feb. 27 & 28th ski Paradise Valley.

Publicity:  Good media coverage so far.

1.      New Business

  • Loppet- Feb. 7/09 – Don is willing to groom someone to take over loppet for 2010 as this will be his last year to run it. 
  • Next exec meeting at Peggy’s.
  • We are in need of a phone committee for the loppet & the year end banquet.
  • We have a new DVD – The Fine Line-Avalanche training-exec will review before showing to members.
  • Next general meeting will be on February 10th at Kerrywood Nature Centre @ 7:30pm.
