Annual General Meeting

Presidents Report:  Don discussed the past year’s activities.  We had a really good turn out for our trips as they were all booked full.  It was a great help with beginners to have Steve & Sandy invite members to stay at their place in Harvie Heights and ski in the area.  This was the third time the Bob Johnstone Loppett was cancelled due to lack of snow.  We are still working with Riverbend regarding trails etc.  Don thanked retiring members.  Terry Ferster retired from doing the newsletter after 2 ½ yrs., Mountain Tour Chairman – Steve Davies, Dale Ferguson – Publicity, Claude Sam – Treasurer, John Duke –Day Trips & Ski Lessons.  Thanked Brian Davies for stepping in & taking over the newsletter editor position, thanked Mike Spencer for arranging courses.  Steve & Sandy for their work on the Social Committee which will now just be Sandy as Steve is stepping into another position. (See below).  Pat Gleason retiring past president.
 

Reports:
            Treasurer’s report:  (Claude Sam) All balanced.  Mentioned we have 100 members.

            Ski Lessons/Day Trips:   (John Duke) Good feedback on ski lessons. Thanked             everyone that helped out with the lessons. 

            Mountain Tour Chairman:  Steve Davies (absent) Jane Davies thanked everyone for helping make her job so easy. (Steve’s backup)

            Web Master:  Absent (travelling Europe)- Nothing to report at this time.

Positions:

      President: Don nominated Mike Spencer (ex Vice President), no other nominations.       Motion to cease nominations- Peggy ,
Mike Spencer is declared elected to the office of President.

      Vice President:   Don nominated  Vance Buckwald – no other nominations. Claude       Motion to cease nominations- Claude Sam 
Vance Buckwald is declared elected to the office of Vice President.

      Treasurer:  Claude Sam nominated Dick Pawloff-no other nominations.       Motion to cease nominations- Linda Dickin. 
Dick Pawloff is declared elected to the office of Treasurer.

      Day Trips and Ski Lessons: Don  nominated Linda Dicken – no other nominations. Motion to cease nominations- Gisele.

      Mountain Tour Chairman:  Don nominated Steve Irwin-no other nominations.    Motion  to cease nominations- Rene Weber.

Publicity: Don nominated Richard Townell – no other nominations. Motion to cease nominations- Rene Weber.
Richard Townell is declared elected to the office of Publicity Director

      Tom Mar-Lang is interested in attending September’s Mountain Tour organizational  meeting.

Announcements:  Anyone interested in helping out with Woody’s Marathon on Sunday, May 18/08 of the long weekend. Contact Jane Davies if you can help (time frame would be around 8a.m to noon) if you can help for an hour or 2 or more that would be great.

Claude presented Don with a thank you gift (book – “A Time in the Arctic” by:  Bernie Brown) for his hard work as president.

Don presented Carol & Brian and Jane Davies with  mugs made by Judy Morrison.
to thank them for the past year(s) volunteering on the executive. The remainder of the mugs will be presented in the fall.

Linda Dicken mentioned they would be sending an invite out to the members about holding a campout at their place by the river on June 20-22/08.
