1 Executive Reports
o Treasurers report: no report but report presented previously at General Meeting
o Newsletter Editor Terry reported that time was tight for him and requested any submissions now or earlier.
o Web Site: No report I think.
o Publicity: no report
o Social: Everything under control
o Vice President. Mike said that he would have a list of possible courses available at the next meeting
2. Business:
o Club General Meeting Entertainment. Sandy and Steve suggested several possibilities including film, a talk on basic avalanche awareness on trips, a talk from the manager of Outdoor Pursuits in Calgary (topic unknown), a cooking course for trail snacks, calorie requirements, and a talk on Ski Conditioning either involving staff from the College Sports Center or one of our physiotherapist club members, Judy. Tentatively scheduled for January, Mike and Don agreed to do a slide show on the Campbell Icefields and Fay Hut trips in January and a February meeting that may involve food. March is scheduled as an educational but as yet a definite topic was not decided on.
o Nov. General Meeting requirements: Don had not received confirmation from Valhalla Pure that they would be able to present at theNov. meeting.
o Ratification of the Mountain Tour Schedule Motion: That the Parkland Ski Club executive approves the mountain tour schedule as posted in the club newsletter and on the club web site. Motion made by Mike Spencer Seconded by Steve Irwin. Motion passed unanimously.
o Funding application to Dow to cover some of the expenses of the Satellite Phone. Application was submitted but no word as yet if it was accepted. We should learn more when Steve Davies returns from holidays.
o Special Events. Waxing party scheduled for Nov 18. A request for people to bring waxing benches and irons was made.
o Ski Lessons Don reported that he proofed the first draft of the City's winter activity guide with our entry under the club listings, our ski lessons under the activities section and the Bob Johnstone Loppet under the special events section at a cost of $100.00 to the club (bill as yet not received).
o Snowmobile purchase follow-up. Don reported that he received a request from the Alberta Community Initiatives Program for some financial follow-up on the grant we received for the Heritage Ranch track setting snowmobile. Don will contact Claude to get a copy of the cheque that was issued to Turple Brothers and have a cheque issued to Mark Meunier for the cost of a shelter for the snowmobiles.
o Winter Sports Activity Guide. See above under ski lessons
o Cross Country Ski Committee Meeting. Don mentioned that a meeting would take place on Oct 31 with the City, River Bend and the volunteer track setters regarding this seasons ski season in Red Deer.
o T-shirts/ sweatshirt sales will be discussed at next General meeting.
o Next meeting: At Mike and Barb Spencer's ultimately passed on to Claude and Nicole and finally Dick Pawloff. Date: Nov. 27, 2007
