HIKING MOUNT KILIMANJARO WITH CHRIS MARR-LAING
A Spectacular Week at Talus Lodge
In mid March, 12 Parkland members set off for Canmore to begin a beautiful week of skiing at Talus Lodge. We gathered from Red Deer, Lacombe, Edmonton and Rimbey – some old friends, some new – all happily ensconced on a Thursday night in the ACC Bell Cabin high on the hill above Canmore. The night was spent in prep for some, relaxing for others – all of us beginning the process of gelling as a group.
November 2014 Chilkoot Trail Presentation By Dion Brosius
Club Member Dion Brosius will be presenting his 5 day backpacking trip on the Chilkoot Trail.
The trail is a small part of the route the Gold Miners took during the Klondike Gold Rush 1897-1898. The trail starts near Skagway, AK, and ends in Lake Bennett, BC. It goes through many different types of terrain and you can see remnants of the Gold Rush along the trail. The trail is also know as being the World’s Longest Outdoor Museum. This is one of the most famous trails in the North.
